7/9/2013
DOTHAN, AL, (July 9, 2013) – Hannah Glover, a registered nurse who works on the sixth floor of Flowers Hospital, was named the winner of the 2013 Patient Choice Award. Hannah began her career in January of 2012 as a new RN working on the nightshift on the surgical floor. She transferred to day shift on the same floor in January of 2013.
In February 2013 she joined the Nursing Leadership Group and has been very instrumental in fostering a teamwork atmosphere among the Nursing Leadership Group members. She consistently leads or participates in various projects in which the Nursing Leadership Group is involved. She effortlessly motivates those around her. Hannah continuously looks for opportunities to improve patient care and make a personal connection in all her interactions with others.
During the month of April, Flowers Hospital solicited feedback and nominations from people that had experienced an inpatient stay at Flowers Hospital. Over 50 nominations were received. The nominees and winner were recognized May 10th during the celebration of Nurses’ Week.
Suzanne Woods, Chief Executive Officer at Flowers Hospital, said, “Nurses choose their profession because of a desire to help others and not because they expect recognition and praise. They are unsung heroes answering a higher call. Hannah represents excellence in nursing care, for both her skills as a nurse and her compassion as a person, and we are proud to recognize her with our 2013 Patient Choice Award.”
Some of the comments about Hannah from her patients were, “Very helpful in explaining everything to me in way I can understand, particularly about my medicines and how to take them. She has a fantastic personality, Hannah is very thorough and caring, she displayed concern and compassion, while demonstrating knowledge in what she was doing (which was most important). Hannah makes the patient and family feel so much better when they can have confidence in their caregiver. The care I have received from her has been nothing short of excellent.” She is the very best nurse, who went out of the way to make sure that everything was ok with me. She loves her job and it shows in her performance.”
Hannah’s Director, Terri Clark, agrees with the patients’ decisions, “Hannah has mastered the art of making each patient feel as if they are her only patient. She is able to connect with patients and family. She also has incredible time management skills; she does not show stress and is able to complete one task at a time with efficiency.”
