Sleep Medicine
Roughly 70 million Americans suffer from sleep disorders. Sleep is essential for physical and mental renewal, and long-term sleep difficulties can lead to serious medical problems. Sleep medicine doctors, sleep technologists and other clinicians at Flowers Hospital are dedicated to helping you get a good night’s sleep.
The Sleep-Wake Disorders Center at Flowers Hospital is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and performs sleep studies on adults and children.
We offer diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of sleep disorders, including:
- Sleep apnea
- Narcolepsy
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Nocturnal leg jerks
- Insomnia
- Abnormal nighttime behaviors such as sleepwalking, sleep talking, bedwetting, teeth grinding, nightmares and night terrors
Patients with a strong family history of any of these problems should be considered for a sleep study. Results of your study are reviewed by physicians who are board-certified sleep specialists. Sleep studies are typically covered by most insurances. Please contact your individual carrier to ensure coverage.
All of the procedures in the center require a physician’s order. You or your physician may schedule the initial appointment by calling (334) 794-5000, extension 1685.
