Critical Care Medicine
The medical professionals at Flowers Hospital provide 24-hour monitoring and acute care for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. Patients have access to specialists in a range of disciplines who utilize advanced equipment and technology to provide quality care.
We understand that having a family member or loved one in the critical care can be difficult - that’s why team members are dedicated to keeping you informed and answering your questions.
Critically ill patients are cared for in one of our five intensive care units:
- SICU - Surgical intensive care unit
- CCU - Cardiac intensive care unit
- MICU III & IV - Medical intensive care units
- CVICU – Cardiovascular intensive care unit
Visitation
Patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) are considered to have an acute problem or require constant observation. Rest, relaxation and comfort for the patient have a direct bearing on a speedy recovery. Noise, long visits or too many visitors hinder such a recovery and therefore, we ask that you limit visits and keep conversation positive.
Your encouragement and hopeful attitude can go far toward calming fears and assisting the patient’s recovery. Your cooperation not only benefits your family member, but all of the patients in the ICU.
