Flowers Hospital Recognized For Service Line Excellence
Dothan, AL (August 22, 2013) – Flowers Hospital has been recognized with the Service Line Excellence Award by Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute-care hospitals. The organization’s affiliates include Flowers and 135 other hospitals in 29 states.
Presented at the organization’s annual Chiefs of Staff meeting, Robert Cleveland, M.D., chief of staff of Flowers Hospital accepted the award on behalf of the hospital. The Service Line Excellence Award recognizes those hospitals that have obtained several specialty service line accreditations.
“Flowers Hospital was the recipient of this award for securing accreditations in Cardiac Care with PCI, Stroke and Breast Health Imaging in 2012. These accreditations represent our commitment to the highest quality standards. Achieving this level of excellence reflects our dedication to delivering outstanding service and quality to the community that we serve. We would like to acknowledge our outstanding physicians, devoted employees, and loyal volunteers who work together to fulfill our mission of caring for patients as family,” states Suzanne Woods, Flowers Hospital President/CEO.
Flowers Hospital was the area’s first hospital to be accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as a Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. The Heart and Vascular Institute at Flowers Hospital has four modern cardiovascular labs, including the area’s first hybrid endovascular suite. In the Heart and Vascular Institute, specially trained nurses and technologists work under the direction of board certified cardiologists and vascular surgeons to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures. In addition, board certified cardiovascular surgeons work with a dedicated open heart surgical team and specially trained nurses and technologists in two Cardiac Intensive Care Units, all designed to improve and maintain your heart health.
Flowers was also the first hospital in the area to receive Primary Stoke Center Certification by the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association. The quick and efficient use of guideline procedures can improve the quality of care for stroke patients and may reduce disability and save lives. Time saved is brain saved.
The Breast Health Center’s dedicated employees and Board Certified Radiologists are committed to excellence in breast imaging. The American College of Radiology has awarded Flowers Hospital accreditation in mammography, breast MRI, breast ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsy.
“Our patients deserve excellent care based on the highest quality standards.” said Dr. Cleveland. “I was honored to accept this award on behalf of Flowers Hospital whose commitment to excellence helped them meet the rigorous national standards required for these accreditations.”
