Flowers Hospital Fights Hunger Through Its Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive

Dothan, AL – Flowers Hospital recently collected more than 2,800 jars of peanut butter as part of its third annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefiting the Wiregrass Area Food Bank. Monetary donations were made online while hundreds of jars of peanut butter were collected at Flowers Hospital and other community locations.
Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life, yet it is one of the least donated items. The food bank estimates that more than 43,000 people in the Wiregrass face food insecurity each day, and Flowers Hospital is proud to help address that need.
“Hunger can have a significant impact on an individual’s health and wellbeing, and we are proud of how this year’s Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive will help stock the shelves of the Wiregrass Area Food Bank,” said Steve Gordon, Flowers Hospital CEO. “We want to thank our employees, medical staff, and community for their generosity and support of this year’s drive to help those facing food insecurity in our community.”
Donations were made to coincide with National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on April 2. Flowers Hospital thanks the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, First United Methodist Church of Dothan and the Wiregrass United Way for serving as drop off locations for donations.
