Joint Replacement
If knee or hip pain is reducing the quality of your life, everyday activities and hobbies are difficult or unbearable, and conservative measures like diet, exercise and medications no longer provide relief or alleviate your pain, you may be a candidate for joint replacement surgery. Flowers Hospital has created a program that brings together a team of surgeons with specially-trained nurses, therapists and technicians. Our goal is to provide seamless, coordinated care, and get you back to your favorite activities as soon as possible.
About Our Program
At The Joint Replacement Center (JRC) at Flowers Hospital, we have created a special area just for the care of knee and hip replacement patients. Led by the joint replacement navigator, each member of the JRC staff provides clinical care for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
This program is designed to encompass wellness, early mobility, family involvement, education, personal responsibility, group interaction and minimally invasive and rapid-recovery techniques for better outcomes following joint replacement surgery.
No hospital gowns for this crowd - patients will get to wear their own clothes! A family member will be encouraged to become their coach and participate in group activities, meals and other special events. Exercise and therapy is also provided in a group setting, so that our patients can support, encourage and connect with each other while they recover.
With surgery and post-op care, it is now common for many patients to be able to go home from the hospital after two or three days. If you have both knees replaced at the same time, the stay can be a day or two longer. Of course, each patient is different, but our goal is for you to recover in the comfort and privacy of your own home as soon as possible.
