Flowers Hospital Committed to Serving Healthcare Needs of Those Affected by Hurricane Michael

As the region works to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Michael, healthcare facilities are seeing an increase in patients. Flowers Hospital Chief Executive Officer Heath Phillips says Flowers Hospital is committed to serving the healthcare needs of all of those affected by the storm.
“Many healthcare facilities in the Florida panhandle suffered severe damage during the hurricane, leaving a smaller number of hospitals and clinics in operation and reducing their ability to care for patients. Those facilities are doing the best they can to provide care, but for many people affected, hospitals and clinics in Dothan are the closest healthcare services. Some of these people have nowhere else to go for their medical needs, and we are honored to be able to care for them,” said Phillips.
Phillips says that Flowers Hospital has worked tirelessly to meet the needs of these patients and is being supported by staff from its sister hospitals Medical Center Enterprise, Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham.
Flowers Medical Group offices also are caring for patients who may have been displaced by the storm. Many primary care providers offer same-day appointments and online scheduling to make it easy and convenient to get medical attention when needed. PrimeCare of Dothan and Daleville offices also offer walk-in appointments for various conditions or minor injuries that do not require a visit to the emergency room. Visit www.FlowersMedicalGroup.com for more information and locations of Flowers Medical Group offices.
Additionally, Flowers Hospital has been working closely with outside healthcare facilities and offices to coordinate safe and efficient care for patients once they are discharged from the facility.
“Our staff and affiliated physicians have pulled together in a tremendous way to not only care for our patients, but also to provide comfort to patients’ families and visitors,” says Phillips. “Our staff has lived out our mission of ‘Caring for You as Family’ recently, and I am proud of how they have supported each other and everyone who has walked through our doors. I’m also proud to see how the Dothan and Wiregrass communities have come together to help those affected by the storm in significant ways. As we see more and more people coming to our city and outlying areas, we encourage everyone to welcome and show compassion for families who have lost so much.”
